A Little About Darklight and Our Purpose...

What We Are:

Darklight Paranormal Society (DPS) is a very small group of friends with a sincere interest the paranormal and the unexplained.   We have been experimenting with paranormal investigation for several years, and have recently decided to expand our presence onto the web.
While we acknowledge that a lot of what people assume is paranormal can actually be explained with very mundane occurences, we also believe that there is a lot out there that cannot be explained by conventional science.  The world is not so cut and dry as many would like to believe.
We are a non-profit organization.  No member of DPS will ever ask for money in any way, shape or form in return for our services.  Everything we do, all of our equipment, etc., is all at our own expense.

What We Are Not:

  1. We are NOT representative of any particular faith or religion.
  2. We will NOT base any conclusions on relgious philosophy, either our own or the client's.
  3. We are not counselors, and cannot provide psychiatric or medical counseling.  We will, however, point you in a direction to get such assistance.
  4. We do not assume all activity is paranormal.  There is a wide variety of natural and mundane phenomena that can explain many accounts of supernatural occurences.  We will always try to find a natural explanation first.
  5. We are NOT "Ghost Hunters" groupies.  We realize that a lot of groups have popped up since the TAPS team went on air -- some lasted, most have not.  While we appreciate the exposure and credibility TAPS has brought to the paranormal field (both through their many years of experience and the show), we were doing this long before the show premiered on Sci-Fi, although not as Darklight Paranormal Society.  DPS is simply the name we chose when we decided to formalize our group.

Our Purpose:

Our mission is to seek out and find answers to the unexplained, and to help those that ask.
While we are currently not accepting cases that would take us into a client's private residence (as of May, 2008), we will eventually move back into that spectrum.  When we do, we hope to help those that need it, providing assistance and reassurance for what may be a very troubling experience.
In the meantime, we are concentrating on public haunted locations, hotels, cemeteries, and Michigan's urban legends.  Our lovely mitten-shaped state has unexplained goings-on aplenty, and we have decided to concentrate on our state's darker history.
If you know of a location, urban legend or reported phenomenon, we are more than happy to accept suggestions.
